Future Tracks

In the Future Tracks program, Connect works in partnership with schools and Aboriginal communities to develop place-based projects to improve school engagement and expand career opportunities for young people.

Future Tracks operates place-based projects in Tabulam/Bonalbo, Casino, Lismore and the Clarence Valley. Each project is developed locally and supports young people in Years 10-12 to stay engaged with education and develop post-school pathways into further education, training or employment. Projects include connecting young people back to Country and community as a way of strengthening their education.

Students receive support through one-on-one mentoring and career and transition planning to identify their needs and goals, build their capacity to pursue their chosen pathway, and stay engaged at school.

Future Tracks activities have included:

  • Junior rangers excursions in Githabul Country
  • Aboriginal Culture and Career Days with Clarence Valley students, employers and community
  • Arts and mural projects in Casino and Lismore

Future Tracks is currently funded by the National Indigenous Australians Agency through the Indigenous Advancement Strategy Children and Schooling Stream.
